Mesa's a nicer sit-down spot than most places on this blog, which made it a little funny to be doing serious nacho research while the bar section lost its mind over the FIFA final. Good energy though. Made the happy hour feel like an event instead of just early bird pricing.

Speaking of which: happy hour runs every day here, and the nacho deal is worth planning around. We also got a ranch water that was phat, no notes, will be back for that alone.

The nachos themselves came out happy hour sized but still fed two people, no problem. We added carnitas, which were fine. Not a must-order, but they didn't hurt anything either.

Quick note on the cheese: it was queso, not melted cheese. Either one's fine on its own, but we'd love to see both on a plate like this. Nothing wrong with the queso itself, just ran a little starchy, like it needed to loosen up.

Chips held up well and the ratio was dialed in, didn't run out of chips before we ran out of toppings, which is rarer than it should be. Portion size was generous for a happy hour plate. Flavor overall was good, not great. Nothing missed, nothing wowed.

Presentation was standard nacho plate. Gets the job done, doesn't need to be more than that.
