The Short Version

A Denver couple who take nachos a little too seriously.

We've been together 9 years, 7 of them in Denver. Somewhere along the way we developed a habit of going out, ordering nachos, and then spending the drive home debating where they ranked. Dive bars, rooftops, sit-down spots, happy hour specials. If nachos were on the menu, we ordered them.

How It Started

The blog was a joke for a long time.

Every time we'd leave a restaurant, same conversation: "okay but where do those rank?" We'd pick apart the chips, the toppings, how well everything held together by the last few bites. At some point we started joking that we should just write it all down and put it somewhere.

The joke kept coming up. Then one night over a really good plate in Sloan's Lake, we decided to actually do it.

The Scorecard

We built a scoring system before we built the site.

We wanted the rankings to mean something, so we put together a point-based scorecard covering chips, toppings, protein, queso, presentation, and value. Every plate we review gets scored the same way. The numbers don't lie, even when the nachos do.

The blog came after, mostly because a spreadsheet felt like a waste of good opinions.

The Mission

Honestly, this is just fun.

No agenda. We love nachos, we live in Denver, and we wanted a project we could do together. Denver's food scene is great and we think the nacho spots here don't get talked about enough. So we're talking about them.
